Ski mountaineer and guide Bela Vadasz and his wife Mimi Vadasz are said to be the first to make a freeheel ski descent of Denali. Vadasz, 62, cofounded the Truckee, Calif.-based guiding outfit Alpine Skills International in 1979 with his wife, Mimi Maki-Vadasz. He guided on five continents as one of America's first internationally certified mountain guides and helped change the face of guiding in the U.S.
