Should I pack my sleeping bag on top or on the bottom of my backpack?

Where is the best place to pack a sleeping bag in your backpack? Should a sleeping bag go on top (inside) or on the bottom (inside) a large backpack?

It's best to pack your sleeping bag on the bottom of your backpack. Some backpacks will even have a sleeping bag compartment on the bottom, specifically to fit a sleeping bag. Weight wise it's often better to place a sleeping bag at the bottom of a pack.
