What are the best Lower Back exercises to strengthen it for skiing?

What exercises do you use to strengthen your lower back for downhill skiing and backcountry skiing? It seems like every year I tweak my lower back, and want to get it stronger so in the future I don't have as many lower back issues. Any recommendations for getting your lower back stronger for skiing?

Here are a few staple exercises that should be part of your workout routine to help strengthen your lower back for skiing:

1) Planks (and side planks)
2) Deadlifts (Make sure to use proper form) See: How to Deadlift
3) Romanian Deadlift (RDL) - Jonny Moseley says "Might be the single most important exercise for skiing performance/health.At least for bumps"
4) Chin-ups (and pull-ups) - for upper back
5) Squats - High bar squat (Make sure to use proper form) See: How to Squat w/ Mark Bell

If you have a lower back injury that needs rehabbing, then be sure to pick up a copy of Back Mechanic by Dr. Stuart McGill
